This morning, I made my first green juice using my new Bella Nutripro Cold Press Juicer. Since I’m not an expert, I really have nothing to compare it to but the process is easy, the appliance is quiet and juice tastes good. Best of all, it is pretty easy to clean which I hear can be a pain when it comes to juicers.

I added romaine, spinach, lemon, celery, cucumber, apple, ginger and lemon. A random mix but I added everything I had since I’m leaving for LA tomorrow and might as well use up all my produce. I felt like I needed a good detox breakfast after eating a dinner that consisted of baked goods and beer at the Super Bowl party I attended. An hour or two later, I had protein pancake as well.

I can’t believe how much pulp is produced. I am not a wasteful person when it comes to food. I rarely throw out anything. Leftovers are always eaten and foods are cooked or frozen before they go bad. This dilemma of what to do with the pulp is going to set me up for some funky and potentially awful recipe experiments. I am in the process of making crackers with it.

My juice came out to about 14 ounces. I used about 1/2 head of lettuce, 4 celery stalks, 4 inches of cucumber, 2 cups of spinach, 1/4 lemon, 1/2 apple, and a little knob of ginger. I can’t believe how much goes into making a single serving! While the lettuce and spinach make very little to juice, the celery, cucumber and apple (which are obviously very dense in water) helped fill up the little pitcher.
