You know what intimidates me? Meat. You may notice I don’t have a whole lot of meat recipes around here. Seafood? Salads? Grains? No problem. But meat scares me. I should say that in the last couple of months I have begun tackling my meat fear and not surprisingly, some of these recipes have become my favourites (I’m looking at your Thai Turkey Sliders and Apricot Barbecue Chicken!).
Meat can also be incredibly time consuming. Sometimes I don’t want to marinate my chicken or rub my steak (I think it would be weird if I wanted to do these things FTR). Sometimes I just want to throw some pre-made meat on my salad and call it a day. Cue Maple Leaf’s Protinis. These are pre-baked chicken pieces that come in a handy-dandy container that are perfect for throwing on salads, mixing with chickpeas or eating with your hands in a movie theater (yes, this happened…don’t judge). When Maple Leaf contacted me to review their new line of chicken called protinis, it was an offer I couldn’t turn down.
Confession time, I eat a lot of deli meat. I claim to buy it for C’s lunches when in reality I eat most of it because I generally toss it on top of my salads or eat it in my lunch sammies. Deli meat isn’t THAT bad if you ignore the nitrates and preservatives.

Protinis have none of that gunk which subsequently has added 10 years to my life and cut my grocery bill significantly. Also they’re pretty darn good. They come in 8 different flavours (listed here) that make a perfect addition to any meal or for a high protein snack in between meals. 15 grams of protein BOOYAH.
I was only able to try the Honey Garlic flavour since it was the only flavour I could find. Apparently they are popular in downtown Toronto because I had to try 6 stores before I could find a single flavour! Luckily the one flavour they did have was the one I would have chosen first anyway so it was all good.
I thought we could all use a little more protein in our lives so I figured I would do a triple whammy by combining the honey garlic chicken with chickpeas AND greek yogurt. Also it took me approximately 5 minutes to make, and I answered a phone call from my Mom in between so it’s safe to say this made for one of the fastest and easiest recipes on THM.
