Now this certainly won’t be the end of the avocado madness (madness would be life without avocados…) but for the purposes of occasionally diversifying our diets, I have to offer a few alternatives to avocado recipes.
That being said, I probably eat avocado toast in at least some form every single day…diversifying is overrated anyway.
So Nikky and I agreed that we couldn’t possibly do an entire week of avocado love and not include avocado toast. But we also wanted to change it up. Avocado + Lemon + Chili Flakes is soooo Cafe Gitane circa 2011.
Today we wanted to introduce you to 3 new and unique twists on avocado toast. These are perfect for busy days where it’s virtually impossible to sit down to a healthy meal. Just whip these up in under 5 and you’ve got a healthy and filling meal in one.

1. Caprese Avocado Toast
Of the 3 recipes this one is probably the most conventional. I absolutely love caprese salads but cheese does not love me. Avocado is the perfect subsitute and pairs well with fresh tomatoes and basil. Drizzle with a little balsamic and sprinkle with some sea salt and you’re good to go!
2. Chili Lime and Radish Avocado Toast
This recipe was inspired by our trip to Mexico where our incredibly gracious host, Mary got me hooked on radishes with chili and lime. I thought they would be a great topper for avocado toast. Not surprisingly, it totally is!
3. Orange and Basil Avocado Toast
I’ll be honest, I gave Nikky some flack for this recipe. She suggested and I totally yucked her yum. Well guess who ate her words (literally…)? Yup, that’s right I was totally wrong. The sweet and savoury combo of this recipe is insane and ended up being my favorite of the bunch!

Unique Avocado Toast Recipes

Ingredients
- Whole-grain bread (or gluten-free, if necessary)
- 1 avocado, mashed with a fork
for the caprese avocado toast:
- 3 slices of tomato
- 1 tbsp chopped basil
- drizzle of balsamic vinegar
- sea salt and black pepper, to taste
for the chili lime radish avocado toast:
- 1 radish, sliced
- 1/2 lime
- sprinkling of chili pepper
- sprinkling of sea salt
for the orange balsamic avocado toast:
- 1 small orange, peeled and diced
- 1 tbsp chopped basil
- balsamic vinegar, for drizzling
- sprinkling of sea salt
Instructions
- Mash up avocado and spread on slices of whole-grain bread.
For the caprese avocado toast:
- top toast with tomato and basil.
- drizzle with balsamic and sprinkle with sea salt and pepper.
For the chili lime radish avocado toast:
- top toast with radishes and juice lime over top.
- sprinkle with chili pepper and sea salt
For the orange balsamic avocado toast:
- top toast with orange slices and basil.
- drizzle with balsamic and sprinkle with sea salt.
*Ingredients for each flavor make 1 slice of toast – feel free to double or triple recipe for more servings.
