I’ve been nominated for Liebster Blog Awards in the past, but it’s always a proud moment to be nominated by a blogger whom I admire and respect. This time I was asked to participate and nominated by the consummate gentleman spanker Joseph McNamara. I would like to thank him for nominating me for this award and for his inspiring and creative questions. To find out a little more about him, check out his blog:
For future Liebster Award recipients, here are the rules:
Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
.
Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
.
Answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.
.
Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
.
Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
.
Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.
.
List these rules in your post. Once you have written and published it, you then have to inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)
Here are the questions to me from Joseph:
11 things about myself … not in any order of importance!

What is your guilty pleasure?
Who is your favorite author?
Jeffrey Eugenides. Aside from being a wonderful fiction writer, he hails from my hometown. I had the privilege of meeting him in person and interviewing him about his second book, Middlesex. He’s a very quiet guy with an incredibly dry sense of humor.
What do you still want to accomplish?
Does winning the lottery count?
Coffee or tea?
Neither, really. I occasionally enjoy a good cup of coffee, but I handle my coffee like my liquor … two cups and I’m done for. If I have any more than that, my stomach will do flip-flops all day.
Where would you rather be right now in the world?
California Wine Country, Napa or Sonoma Valley. My lover Parrot and I have visited the area three different times and never saw the same things twice. The terrain and the weather are beautiful.
What are you afraid of?
Ants. They creep me out!
What are you most talented at?
If you were a cocktail, what would you be called?
A dirty martini – with Skyy vodka and anchovy stuffed olives. It’s not because of the “dirty” connotation, but because it’s my current favorite drink.
What is your most treasured possession?
Nothing, really. I don’t get attached to things; I value people.
What is your favorite movie?
Casino. I love the characters, how they develop through the story, and the storyline. And how can anyone not like Robert DeNiro?
What was the best gift you were ever given?
Any time Parrot has written erotica for me. Although some of the stories are partially fictionalized, many of them are based on our times together or things we’ve talked about. He’s very true to our “characters” — how we love, value, communicate and have rich and decadent sex with each other. As he often tells people, the stories may or not be true but they’re always about the truth. Plus, he’s an amazingly gifted writer.
11 Things about myself … not in any order of importance!
1. I’ve had Type I diabetes for 43 years. Amazingly, I have no complications.
2. I have two sons who have grown up to be incredibly responsible, courteous and thoughtful adults as well as loving husbands.
3. I’m a foodie but I hate cooking for just myself.
4. I’m heterosexual … and it wasn’t a choice.
5. I’m a bit of a political junkie. I tend toward the progressive side.
6. I’m the oldest of three siblings.
7. I contracted MRSA a little over four years ago. I had a 60% chance of surviving the first surgery to remove infected skin and tissue. My doctors could not guarantee that the wound from my surgeries would heal. I recovered in 3½ months.
8. I was a journalist for three different newspapers over the course of nine years. It was by far my favorite job.
9. I have no problem approaching people I don’t know or speaking in front of an audience, but I’m very introverted.
10. I suck at math.
11. Bill Maher is my celebrity crush.
I would like to nominate for this award this year the following wonderful and spirited bloggers who I follow on a regular basis.
And my questions for the above amazing authors and bloggers:
1. Do you believe in love at first sight?
2. What would you do with your time if you didn’t have a blog?
3. If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
4. If you won $1 million, what would you do with it?
5. What is the second best thing after sex?
6. What is your favorite food?
7. If you have children or step-children, what is the most important thing you’ve taught them?
8. If you could be a novelist, who would you be?
9. What song best defines your spirit?
10. If you could be a particular age for the rest of your life, how old would you like to be?
11. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
And, again, a very special thank you to Joseph McNamara for nominating me for this award. It was so nice of you to include me and my blog in your thoughts.
